Benaulim · South Goa
A fishing village on the long southern coast, where the beach is wide and calm and the days are unhurried. The gentle answer to Goa's busier north.
Benaulim sits in Salcete, South Goa, about six kilometres from the town of Margao and a little over twenty from the airport. Its beach runs for miles, rarely crowded even in season, edged by palms and a handful of shacks.
This is the Goa of village churches, old Portuguese Goan houses, morning markets and long slow sunsets. A place to walk, cycle, eat well and do very little in particular.
